Week 95 May 30, 2011

Hello family!! How are all of you guys doing on this wonderful May Day!! First off I would like to say thanks so much for the wonderful emails and pictures that I have received!! Thanks so much for everyone who takes time during the week to write me I really do appreciate it!!

So to be strait up honest I have now idea where to start! This week has been full of so many fun memories and so many great experiences where we have seen the hand of the Lord in this work!! First of all it has been a week of preparing a couple baptisms! We had two baptisms this week, one was on Thursday and one was on Saturday so we had to plan two baptisms meetings which was complicated and stuff but it was a couple great days!

Actually on Thursday I had one of the intersection experiences in my life… all of you guys back home readying this are going to get a crack out of this one… so pay attention… we have been teaching this man that is called Adilson! He is a guy that is super cool, but he is a little crazy for example… he lives going state to state and doesn't really have a job but he is trying to get one… but he is probably one of the most intelligent human beings that I have come across to get to know… he understands things on a different level. And to be honest sometimes I just strait up don’t understand what he is thinking hahahahaha… for example what he likes to do for fun is make paths in the forests here hahahahaha… and what he does is that he uses the book of Mormon as a compass and in some way (don’t ask me how ha-ha) to lead him to where he needs to go and for some reason it always works out ha-ha… weird huh… hahaha so anyway we go to baptize him and we push him to the side and he has this huge question to ask us…. And he started to talk about how the bible refers to baptism and being born again and stuff and he said he had thought about it a lot and he wanted it to be exactly how it was when we was born on to this earth of his mother… he ask if he could be baptized naked hahahahahahahahahahahaha…………….. Oh man I just stated dying but he was dead serious hahahaha…. So that was pretty funny!!!

And then we had the baptism of Andrea who is a 30 year old mom that was married with an ex president of a stake in a different city here in Brazil…. Anyway it’s a long story and he wasn’t treating her at all the way he should have and he left and abandoned her and her two kids… but still she has gained a testimony of the gospel and the teachings of the Gospel!!! She knows that everything he was doing to her is nothing, and she continued strong in the process of being baptized!! She has two boys that she said will for sure be little missionaries one day and she is so grateful for the blessing that is going to bring to her life!! What a miracle she is!

This week we also had to go to São Borja to see how everything is going there! We left here at night and we got there in the little city on the border of Argentina at 1: 30 in the morning and we had no idea where we were or what we were doing hahahaha… it was quite an adventure because the only thing we had was the address to the elders house in the center but the only thing was, there was no way to figure out where the taxis were hahaha… a little city where everything closes early and so there was no taxis… well about an hour of waiting finally a taxi comes and we get to the house safely… so that was nice and we were up early in the morning to do interviews and give a training in São Borja!

It was quite a fun day because we got to help a district leader and his comp there in their area and it its super gratifying to do that! We also got to talk with the couple missionary who are sooo sweet! I wasn’t aware of the wonderful experiences they are having there and it was sooooooooooooo nice to talk with someone that reminded me exactly like grandma and grandpa and Nana baby and big daddy!!! Oh man it was soooooooooooooo amazing!!! I guess that in the middle of no where, in a little city of São Borja, there is a foreign exchange student of the US and without knowing this our president of the mission was inspired to send this couple mission there and they have been talking with her and if I'm not mistaken she wants to get baptized but before she does she wants to share the gospel with her family back home and make this huge step with the entire family!! How cool is that!! Nothing is for a reason huh!! There is a purpose, and the hand of the Lord is in everything!!

Also we have been working really close with this wonderful family of Dioberto, Ana, Escarlette, and Estephanie!!! And they are, gosh the most amazing family in the world!! They are reading the Book Of Mormon and this last Sunday the entire family went to church and loved it!! I don’t think that I have ever left church feeling so amazing! We had 10 investigators in church, which is made me super, super happy! Anyway it’s so true! When you worry about the success of other missionaries the Lord worries about you and blesses you in your work!!! We have so little time in our area but still we are able to see the Lord blessing us! I am so grateful for his hand in everything

So that’s about all the time that I have ahhh I wish I could tell you everything that happened this week but sadly my time is all up! But I love you all so much!!!

Thanks for everything and you all have a great week ok!

Week 94 May 22, 2011

Hello family how is everyone doing on this wonderful May Day!! It sounds like this past week was a week full of parties hahaha and this next week is going to be one more with the big birthday of Grandma! Happy birthday grandma I hope that you have a fabulous day and know that I will be thinking of you!! I want to say thanks to everyone for all the letters! Really I do appreciate them all!

This week was such an amazing week! So much happened and it seems like the weeks and the days are passing by soooo much faster than ever! So let me start from the beginning!

As you guys know I was in Santa Maria this last weekend for a meeting there and it was just amazing! It was Monday and Tuesday and it was so amazing first of all to see president and sister and their daughters as well! They are such an amazing family!

Monday after I used the Internet, me and elder felpie we took off to visit some of our recent converts and it was such an amazing treat we visited Silvio and Neuza and we talked with them and how they are getting ready and preparing themselves to go to the temple! It was such a great talk! And also we went to the house of Sallett and Silva and Angelita and Angelica! It was soooo amazing and to be honest a little funny ha-ha

We knocked on the door of Sallett and she opened the door and we were hiding hahaha and we jumped out and they freaked out hahahaaha they were completley speechless they didn’t know what to say!! They were all so happy to see us and we found out that the next day Angelica was going to the temple with the ward and this next month all 4 of them are going to go as well!! How amazing is that!! Ahh I was sooooooo happy!! It makes me so happy to see the ones we love still progressing and taking the next steps in the gospel! What a great blessing it was!

A little after we went to presidents house for a family night it was soooo amazing we talking and had a training there about the divine potential of all children of God here on earth!! It was amazing!

Then Tuesday came and it was a full day of learning! I loved it!! We had various things we learned about! We learned about cleaning our inner vessel (living in righteousness) we also learned about “teaching people and not lessons” and included in that part we talked about “questions” and the importance of them!! It was a couple of amazing days and some amazing learning as well!

On Thursday we went to Santa Rosa to pass everything we learned to the missionaries there! It was so amazing there and I loved seeing the missionaries there as well the only problem with that is that we have been getting little sleep because of all of this traveling and stuff… we got up at 4 in the morning on Thursday to go there and we came back at 12:00 in the afternoon and ran to lunch and worked the whole day… and we have been having to get up at 5:30 almost everyday to do stuff… its been crazy!

This Wednesday we are going to São Borja to do the same thing and it’s a 4 hour bus ride and its leaves at 10 at night then we will get there super early in the morning work all day long and come back at midnight as well… amazing huh… hahahahahaha and this next Monday I think we are all going to Santa Maria for a mission tour which the bus is going to leave here at 3 in the morning hahahahahahaha so its going to be a couple crazy weeks!!

But we have been having very little time in are area and still we are seeing so much success I truly believe that the Lord is blessings us in this ways because we are really doing all we can to help out the zone, when we worry about the zone and thing of others. The Lord worries about our area and us! And I known that that’s true! We are teaching a family that is super special Ana, Alberto, Estaphanie, Escarlett and they are going to go to church this next week all-together!! This family is sooo special we taught them the restoration and it just seemed like they understood everything, then they were just waiting to here the truth and how God called a prophet in our days! It was amazing! We are also teaching a women that is super special that is going to get baptized this week Andreia and if I'm not mistaken we will have one more baptism this week as well!! In all, the Lord is blessing is huge ways!!

This week we were walking on this road and we passed in front of this house and we passed and something said to go back…. It was like the spirit was literally pulling us back there and so we went and knocked on the door and this amazing family let us in… a recently married young couple with the names of Dirceu and Dianie and they are expecting a young boy here in a bit… we did a prayer for them and we asked to come back and they said to come back the next day which was yesterday so we went… anyway it was such a spiritual lesson! We came to know them some time ago… this man Dirceu was studying to become a member of the clergy in the catholic church… anyway we taught them the first part of the restoration and they loved it and to be honest I don’t know how this is going to turn out but I believe and have faith that they are going to be huge part of the church here in Santo Angelo! Wow this family is amazing!!!

Anyway it’s so amazing to be able to do the Lords work at this time in my life! I am so grateful for everything I have learned and everything that I have felt! I know without a doubt that this church is true and that becoming a part of it truly brings true happiness to the lives of all who do so! I am so grateful for you all and all you guys do for me! Thanks again!

Love you all

Week 92 and 93 May 9, and May 16
On May 8th, Mother's day, we got to speak to Coulson, so he didn't write a weekly Email last week, just sent the pictures.

Hello family!! How are all of you guys doing on this wonderful Day! I hope that all is amazing and that everyone is healthy and happy and always smiling! I want to thank all who sent me an email this week! I truly am so grateful for the updates and to know that everyone is doing just great!

So the big changes has come... I am Santo Angelo now and I am loving it! My new comp is Elder Black and He is the man! To be honest He isn’t Black though.... not even close... He is a red headed kid from Orem Utah that is SO awsome and has 10 months in the mission! He is truly one of the hardest workers I have been with until now and we are truly seeing the hand of the Lord in all things!

To leave Cruz Alta, I'ill be strait up honest, it wasn’t easy! Leaving there and all the amazing families that I was teaching but I have heard that the are mostly all doing just great and soon they will ALL be baptized which makes me sooooo happy, oh man! I truly am so grateful that wherever you GO, or whoever is teaching the gospel, that it never changes!! It’s the gospel of Jesus Christ and it’s the same forever, what a great blessing huh!

Right now I am in Santa Maria it’s so great to be back hahahaha. We are here for a meeting with president so we will be here today and tomorrow then we will be going back tomorrow at midnight. Tonight we will lbe having a family home evening with president and sister that will be so much fun as well! Silvo, lulu, and Neuza picked me up with a big hug again, which is always just, reencounter! And I Will GO and visit some of the people that I got to know here in a bit!

So let me tell you a little bit about the new area where I am! So where I am right now is a Branch... its not a ward yet and it's just because its not big enough, but it's a branch that is super, super strong! The branch here actually works though... I mean there is a president of the branch and counselors and a leader of the missionary work. And a Young men’s presidency... when I got here it was quite a relief because it is so nice to see people that love the gospel and understand the importance of it in our lives and in the lives of other peoples!!

We got here and we have some people that are here that are ready for the baptism already but they Just need to get married and stuff and its kind of complicated because its been like 5 months and they can't get married for some reason.... I don’t know... but maybe I Will see it!

This last week it’s been so amazing to see the Lord truly guide us in his work! Elder Black was in the other part of the city before this so to be honest we are practically opening this area because we both don’t know where we are going hahaha... so its been an adventure!!

The other night we were walking on this road super far way from everything and at the end of the road there was a house that had the door open and the light was lit and it Just looked like the Lord was wanting us to GO there... because everything else was pitch black... at the same moment Elder Blacks and I look at each other and we say “I think the Lord wants us to GO there” ya we were joking and stuff but we really did GO there at 8:30 when we had to run home hahaha and we got accepted in. we walked in and I will be strait up honest this family is soooo amazing!! Oh my gosh! Is a family with 2 daughters that are just amazing! The mom thinks exactly how you think mom hahaha it's just incredible! There is now doubt in my mind that the Lord prepared them to hear the gospel!!!! And we were guided to their front porch!!

Also the other day, to be honest, it was my first day in Santo Angelo. . We were walking on the road and we walked passed a house and I Just stared the house down for some reason and we had passed it by like 2 road and I felt like we should GO back... so I Said Elder lets go back real fast so we went back and on the corner, there was a house that was just another amazing house, with an amazing family! Funny that the week before, come to find out Elder Black and the other missionary had gone there as well!! It’s a family of 3 that is just amazing as well!! They are apart of another church but they are already feeling the spirit super strong!!

The Lord has so much in store for all of us!! Wherever we are sent to go in, in the mission, in life, we are sent to leave that place better then when we found it! The work of the Lord never stops! Ya, sometimes there is a turn that we unexpectedly have to take but the amazing thing about the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is that we teach and live the restored gospel of Jesus Christ that is the same forever and always leads in the same directions which is leading back to Christ!

I know that this church is true and I know that everything happens for a reason! I Love you all and know that all Who want and Who care, there is a way to find true happiness, happiness that will last forever, and that is through the Church of Jesus Christ I Love you all!!

Week 91 May 2, 2011

Hello family! How is everyone doing on this first May afternoon that we have! I hope that all of you guys are doing just great and that you are all preparing for mothers day!!!! Here in 6 days I will be talking with you guys! I’m sooo excited!! The call always seems to come in the right time you know why…. Because I have forgot all of your guys voices….. hahahahahaha but that’s OK I will be remembered of how they are here in a bit!!!

So this is how its going to be… we will use the Internet but I still don’t know if are going to use the web cam… but we are going to talk through Skye its much easier…. So maybe we will just have to cover the web cam OK…. But we will be talking at 3 in the afternoon (your time), which will be 7 at night (here in Brazil) just I hope that will be good for all of you! Ahh I'm so excited!

This week was a great week! A week that has passed so fast again. I will start by telling you some good news!! I got a call last night about 9:15 and guess who it was Silvio from Santa Maria! He called me and said that he had some news to tell me and I was first thinking “oh great what happened” then he continued to say that this last Sunday in stake conference he was ordained the Melchizedek priesthood!!!!!!! He was soooo happy and grateful for a big responsibility and blessing which he had received to help others!! It was amazing!

Also this week we went and visited Maria again ( the one that has problems with her boyfriend that wont leave her, but he wants him to leave and stuff) and we taught another message that was super spiritual! We talked about how when we are doing what the Lord wants us to do the enemy tries harder as well to drag us away from the source of happiness which he find though Christ! And how we don’t gain a testimony of what we are doing until after our faith is proven! And she started to cry and she said that it has been super hard in the house these last couple days with her boyfriend and stuff but at the end she shared with us that she knows that the church is what she needs! And she said that she will never abandon the church again!!! That made me feel sooo good to know she has been going for 4 weeks in a row and I know that the Lord will bless her for this!!! There is no doubt in mind!!

Another amazing story is that Geraldgine went to church again and she is try so hard to bring her husband Wilson to church but he traveled this weekend to Ijui which made me super sad, because this week was something super amazing!!! I will tell you about it a little bit later!

So we are teaching a family that is super special but they have some big little problems they will need to figure out before the baptism.. it’s the family of Carlos and Patricia! We have been going their 2 times a week for about 2 months now and its been super difficult! It’s a long story but this week the theme of what we wanted to talk about was beer and drinking. So we talked about it and we promised blessing of what will come if they cut this from their life and we will see what will happened!! We made a goal and I am hoping that they will stop and praying so much and believe that they will be able to overcome this addiction!! They are really looking for a change! This week their entire family went to church, which was stake conference, which was amazing!!!

So let me explain how stake conference was!! Oh my gosh it was amazing!! And a huge surprise!! We got the stake center and we were just waiting in the front for our investigators.. then we entered for a second and I saw a projector in the front and I was thinking huh… what’s going on.. and it was a transmission, live broadcast for Salt Lake to the Stakes here in the South of Brazil!! It was sooooooooo amazing! Oh my gosh! We got a chance to hear the Prophet and Elder Holland speak and it was just soo great!! They said exactly what our investigators needed to hear!! They talked a lot about the family and how we need to turn the house and families into a holy place so we can live with the Spirit of God! And they talked about rescuing the inactive, which have gone astray, and how it’s NEVER to late to come back!! Oh man it was just amazing!! What in inspiring week of church it was!! Never will forget it!

And then at night we had a baptism!! It was a baptism of a little girl Maiza!!! This is a family that we helped come back to church and it’s a super amazing story as well!!! I will have to tell you all about it one day because it’s a long story but its basically like his… they lived in Crus Alta a long time ago….. and they have been members forever!!! The women, not the grandma was counselor in the relief society and everything… but then her daughter married a returned missionary that later cheater on her and then they moved to a different place in Brazil and were inactive for about 8 years!…. Anyway, they moved back to Cruz Alta not because they wanted to but because Berenise (the mom) had to take care of her mom (the grandma in the photo)… and they had been here 2 days when Me and Elder Ball at the same time said we need to go knock on doors on the same street… anyway the Lord led us to them. When they returned to Brazil and its been a process of 2 months and they are super firm in the church again!! And this baptism of Maiza will just help them continue strong!! It’s been so amazing to see this family grow together!!

Anyway this was the week for us!! It was a good one filled with surprised and the guidance of the Lord in his work!! I am so grateful for all of you and your love and I'm so grateful for the gospel of Jesus Christ in my life!!

I love you all and we will be talking herein 6 days!! WAHOO!!! HAHAHAHA
