Week 37 April 24, 2010

Hello everyone! Oh man I can’t believe that another week has passed by. Think that this has been the fastest of them all... and we are almost into the last week of the transfer... gosh that is crazy!! I would like to say thanks for the emails and the pics of everyone. You guys are all so great for writing me and I love to hear from everyone!

So this week. It was another week of getting ready for zone conference and our zone conference so that was fun! We had so much to do, but Tuesday was more of a relaxing day when we had our zone conference. In zone conference we learned about a lot of stuff. First we learned about being obedient... President kind of got mad at us because I guess there is a lot of crap gong on in the mission and he kind of burned everyone... but it's good was good! You have to be obedient to receive the blessings of the Lord! But the main topic of zone conference was working with the investigators...

In zone conference they talked a lot abut finding and then talking with people! Something that is essential in this work... it was amazing and we have already put the things we learned into practice and it has help a lot. Learning how to be a strong people person is huge... you have to be friendly to everyone because in this work everyone is watching you and just waiting for you to do something wrong... so that was good! And also our AP did a presentation on the Atonement, which was amazing!! I don’t even know how to do it but they involved everyone and I'll just put it this way... the Spirit was so strong that we had 42 Elders and 8 Sisters that we crying... it was amazing!!! Absolutely amazing!! It was to help us understand the importance of our calling!!!

Something also funny... I was on TV here n Brazil hahahaha. Yesterday we went to get a shot for the flu and we had to wait for an hour and forty five minutes... and the news was there and they filmed us like 6 times and put us on the news oh man it was funny!!! That was cool, we are pretty much rock stars!!! Ha-ha

Oh and something that is super, super funny... so yesterday we were contacting people and here in Brazil you get to see people wear close that have words in English, right and they don’t know what it means... anyway something that happened that was super funny was yesterday we saw a big fat old man that was walking around with a shirt that said "grandma" hahaha oh man it was funny!!

Well that’s my time family! I love you all so much and I want to say thanks for everything! I think being in the office I should know where I'm going to go this next transfer a little early so maybe I'll know next p day if not I'll have to wait till next... but fam I love you so much!! Week 36 April 17, 2010

Aló família!! I’m sure that all of you guys are sooo excited to hear from me this week and I'm sure that you guys are all liking the cold once again! Ha-ha! I hope that everyone got home safe from your trips and you guys are all doing great, and thanks so much for all your emails!

Well a lot of things have happened this week in the office so I’ll get to it right away. We had to prepare everything for zone conferences which was really difficult and then we have it this week too so we have to start all over again. But this week is our zone conference so it should be amazing! Also Sister Myrahh is pretty funny, she took every one of us in the office, which would be 6 to the doctors to get looked at so that was pretty cool. Hope everything is fine with everyone hahaha I’ll guess we will find out soon!

And then for the field!!!....

Family something amazing has happened here in Santa Maria! This week I saw for one more time in my mission a miracle happen! We are teaching a man by the name of Juliano, and he is a man super strong! A man that has a family with a girlfriend and 3 little ones but he is someone that is really seeking the truth! As you guys recall I got here about 3 weeks ago and this man is someone who the other elders contacted just one time a Saturday night and the next Sunday we took himself and his entire family to church! And apparently he loved it but his wife didn’t because their kids were really tired and hungry and they didn’t get home until 12 and she said that it just wouldn’t work…. So they stopped passing by there for about 3 weeks…

Then I came and we were walking on their street and at the same time Elder Jones and I, we both got the same feeling that we needed to knock on that door…. I didn’t even know who lived there but he did and he said, “we have already taught there and they went to church and they didn’t want anything else, but if you want to knock there elder go ahead, so I did…” long story short it wasn’t anything big but he came out and he seemed like a nice guy. Came out and shook our hands and asked if we could give his mom a blessing because she is sick, so we marked a day to do that about 2 days later and we went back, but it didn’t work because he got called to work at the last moment… so we marked another day and we went back but it didn’t work. And his house is far… I mean really far. So I was kind of frustrated and we went back and he said that his mom has gotten better but you can come in… so we went in and we taught a little part of the restoration to him… this was the Friday before fast Sunday just a little bit ago… and the lesson was horrible… the wife didn’t like us. And the little kids were screaming and he (Juliano) he talked sooooo much about stories of seeing the devil… sooo I was kind of frustrated with that lesson and we went home. We didn’t even mark a next visit… but long story short we got a call on Saturday night from him last week, asking when and where the bus would pass by and he said he would like to go to church… so we told him and not thinking much because this happens sometimes… well he showed up in church by himself and he seemed like he liked it and then just this last Wednesday he called us and said to set another appointment so we went that night. We went to his house and something that I never would expect left his mouth…. He said you know what. I have been to your church 2 times now, both of them have been that testimony meeting… I’m just sitting there praying that he isn’t going to cut us because this man is amazing! And he said the next thing… and I am soo grateful for that because everything that was said in that testimony meeting, I felt was directed directly at me… he continue to say that he sat there in the meeting just praying. Asking God to show him that this church was true and he said that every question he asked to God was answered through the testimonies of the members!

Wow how amazing was that!! I sat there with Goosebumps I have never heard anyone that expresses his feeling like that to two young men that he doesn’t really even know… it was moment in my life I will never forget because I saw the change in him, in his girlfriend and his family and he said you can count on it that I will go to the next Sunday and the Sunday after that and the Sunday after that! And he wants to get baptized but there is that little marriage thing that’s holding them back but I think that they are going to get married too! They want to its just the matter of doing it now! So that was my experience for the week!

But I just want to say how much I love everyone of you guys, and how funny were those photos!! Oh man you guys haven’t changed at all and you guys look like you had so much fun! I’m so happy for you guys! I love you guys with all my heart!

And just a little note about grandma!! So I have been told about what’s going on and to be honest I’m shocked but everyone is saying that she is happy and that is all that matters! I really hope that these tests go well and I would like to know everything about whets going on! Please don’ t keep anything from me ok! Thanks!

I know this Church is true and I know that our life here on earth isn’t the end! We just need to do our best and make the best out of every second because as we know, time is short and it goes fast, so make the best out of this precious thing we have!

Hello family!!!

How is everyone doing today! I hope that you guys are all having so much fun on your trips and that you guys are all safe and doing well!!

Well anyway I would like to say thanks for all of those who wrote me I'm so happy to here from you all!

Gosh this week just flew I really don’t even know where to start! Let’s start with Conference and how amazing it was! We had a chance to here the words of the leaders of the Church this last week and wasn’t it just amazing! They had so many important things to say but I think that the most important thing over all (like the main topic) was about families and the responsibility of the parents to teach their children how to be one with Christ and to teach them the principals of the Gospel at a young age! This is so important and I'm so happy that I have had parents that have done exactly this! Really I would like to say thanks to you, mom and dad for raising me the way you did! I’m eternally thankful for the blessing that you have passed to me though teaching me the importance of the Gospel! You guys are amazing and it will be something that I will for sure pass on to my children at a young age too! So thanks so much! And I hope that you, my family will have a chance to watch these wonderful conference talks when you get home!

So conference was the highlight of the week, but other then that, in the office it’s been another crazy week! This next week is zone conference so we were preparing all the things for zone conference, which was kind of crazy! I was in charge of doing a bunch of things but the one that prob took the most time was that I had to call everyone in the mission and confirm or write down their address so we can do a little thing special for mothers day and then write all these addresses on an envelope, oh man it was tedious but I got it done and that’s nice and then we had to do all the main stuff. Just things that needed to get done… but it was another week of good office work and then at night good fieldwork! We are finding new people and teaching a lot and our pool of people is grown a lot which is good! We are really working hard and my time here in Santa Maria is just great!

Oh gosh what else… today was p -day so we played ball and then I had to finish some things at the office so we went there and then we went and ate at the only Chinese place here in the mission and let me tell you it was amazing ha-ha!! Oh gosh! So we did all that with the AP’s, which was really fun!

But other then that it was another week here in the mission field! One more week that just flew by! I can’t believe that I already have 2 weeks here gosh the time is really going by so fast and I cant believe it! Its crazy! But I hope that all is well with everyone in salt lake! Can you guys believe it? I think its like a month and all be talking to you guys!!! Oh man that’s crazy!! hahaha

Anyway it sounds like the trips were just great! Hearing everything just makes me feel like I was there it was kind of funny, I can just see you guys on the wave pool just ripping it up and Dave when he gets scared just stepping off and not even falling hahaha… oh man that’s funny! And dad with the sun tan lotion oh man dad that’s funny… don’t act like you didn’t do that on purpose though hahaha you know you wanted to get tan you dork hahaha!

But everyone sadly my hour is up! I love you guys so much and I hope that you guys have such a great time getting home and the last days of your trips are safe!!

Week 34 April 3, 2010

Hello family!!! How is everyone doing!! So you guys are off on the trip I hope that you guys are going to have a fabulous Easter weekend! AND HAPPY EASTER TO ALL!

But were to start this week has been an adventure!! Man I am loving my time here in Santa Maria! It’s going to be a great transfer! So I arrived and I found out that I will be staying with the secretaries which is fun and they live in the big house which means its also the “Transfer house” so we had about 30 people sleeping down stairs on Monday and Tuesday... and we are going to have the same in about 10 days! We have about 28 beds in our basement so it’s like a party house! Its pretty fun be we don’t get much sleep ahhaha!

But other than that, the office is like a whole different playing field! Its nothing that I thought it was! It's actually really exhausting but being here I have already learned a lot about how the mission functions! Its going to be a great transfer helping out here but it might take another week getting used to not walking around all day and teaching! And only teaching at night!

So we go their right after lunch and we start! I did everything from enter the baptism information to the computers, to calling the people who are leaving in June to get all their information so we can buy their tickets! To working in the back with the mail just things that the secretaries need to do but they are busy so they pass it to me and other guys who are here in the office too!

When I got here, I was so ancy and kind of going insane sitting all day hahahahah but it’s just a different type of work that needs to get done! It's nice seeing the president and the AP's almost every day and working with them too! But I think when the time come to start working out in the field it will be nice again!! Its just two-different types of work that are extremely different!! But I'm loving both of them! I am learning a lot!

Then we leave the office about 6:30 and we start working in the field we usually get in about 3 lesson, which is good, and my comp is the man!!

My comp is Elder Jones and he is soooo tight. He played football at TCU and then at BYU he was the quarterback and he really is sooo tight! We are kicking it and working really hard!!

Other than that, the work is going great too! We are able to find a lot of people, which is good!

I don’t have much time so I got to go but this week is conference! I'm sooo happy! What a great time we have to here the words of the prophet and to here his counsel for us! I know that this is such a great time to remember the sacrifice of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ and to remember his resurrection that happened too!! I'm so happy for this opportunity! I love you guys so much!
