I HAVE A NEW P-DAY IT IS SATURDAY

Week 33, March 29, 2010

Family!!! How is everyone doing!! I hope that all is well!! And that you guys are just doing amazing!! I'm sure that everyone is just waiting anxiously to here from me on this last week in March! Gosh the time flies by soo fast huh... but this week has been pretty amazing/crazy!! I don’t even know where to start.

From the beginning... this week was kind of strange, so after p-day last Monday, President called us and said that we had to bring some things to Santa Maria. Because my comp was the zone leader... so we took a bunch of little things to Santa Maria, just like fans that were broken, boxes of close that missionaries left... so that was my Tuesday. A day that passed by really, really fast. And then it started to be a normal week.

The week in all after that was just a normal week in the mission field. We taught a lot. We were trying to find a lot of people because if was the end of transfers and we wanted to prepare really well for this next transfer that is coming so we can start strong and continue strong...

Well the big news that I told you guys about in those other emails. This week being transfer week we knew that 1 person would be leaving, Elder Johnson because he is going home to his house! So he leaves on Sunday night. And the other people getting transferred don’t leave till Tuesday morning. So my comp and I weren’t thinking anything... but on Friday afternoon, President calls me and says... Elder Wiscomb, the money for 2 tickets to Santa Maria has been entered into your account and you are going to come here with Elder Johnson on Sunday... I was like huh... what does that mean, am I getting transferred... so I packed my stuff and we went to Santa Maria yesterday...

So right now I'm in Santa Maria!!!!!!! Hanging out with all my buddies from the CTM!! Having a good time and we all found out where we are going to go! I didn’t know if I was just going to pass through Santa Maria or stay here so I was really excited to figure out where I was going... in our meeting today. When my name was called to figure where I'll be. They said... Elder Wiscomb will be working in the office in Santa Maria with the secretaries!!!! Ha-ha!!! So I'm really excited I'm going to be close to President and working in the office... I don’t really know what to expect, because to be honest I would like to work in the field with the people and stuff but it should be a good transfer. Who knows the people who do this usually pass by here only for one transfer so we will see, but I'm excited!! It should be a fun transfer!!

So I'm going to be working in the office with Elder Burnham, my buddy, with Pres and with a bunch of my friends and I'm living in "the big house" hahaha I went from the crapy house to the big house ha-ha!! So that’s should be awesome! I'm living with 2 other Americans and a Brazilian and my comp is Elder Wilson an American!!!!! It should be so much fun!!!

So that’s the big news! I will tell you how working in the office is after one week...

So this week huh!!! CONFERENCE WEEKEND!!! Awww I'm sooo excited!! We are so lucky one more time to hear the words from the prophet and the leaders of the Church!! I really have such a great testimony about conference! I really know and have a testimony that everything they say will be and is inspired from our Heavenly Father!!! Don’t take this time for granted!! Really listen! The words of these men and women are so important to us!! Make questions, and I promise that all will be answered!! This time is so amazing!!! Anyway!!! Family I got to go!!! But I love you so much and have such a fabulous trip!! Be safe and watch conference when you return hahaha!!! Love you all!!!

Elder Wiscomb!!

P.S. now that I am here, I probably will only have 1 hour on the Internet so try and keep the emails a little shorter!! Sorry hahahahahhaha but I love you all so much serious!!

THE CHRUCH IS TRUE!!!

Week 32 March 22, 2010

Hello family!!! Gosh I just want to say thanks so much for all your guy’s letters they are greatly appreciated! I love hearing from all of you and to hear that all is good back in Salt Lake City!

So where to start! I can’t believe another week has already passes. It feels like yesterday that I was typing to you guys! So I don’t even know where to start, this is the last week in this transfer… six weeks has already passes. Crazy huh!!! Chances are, I'm about 99 percent sure that I'm gong to stay here in Sao Gabriel for the next transfer. Which is ok. I’m getting used to it here, which is nice…

But where to start with this week, it was a little different! For some reason it was a really, really hard week with the work. Most of the days our appointments fell and we got cut by a family that we were teaching, which is super sad! So with the work it was pretty difficult but we did have a couple of things that happened that were pretty cool and fun.

This week we had a family night that was pretty fun and we also had a talent show! This talent show was more like party in the chapel! But it was a good time. We had people singing and telling jokes and doing skits and we even had a mom that’s like 50 dance to about 4 songs that were sooo funny! It was seriously a mom version of napoleon dynamite…. I was seriously dying in my seat. I tried to send the video but it wasn’t allowing me… I will try again… but that was a night that was pretty fun!

This week I have been thinking a lot about conference that is going to happen here in the next couple weeks… and I’m so excited! And in preparation I felt like I should read the conference talks from last conference! Some of these talks that were given by the prophet and the apostles were absolutely amazing! I can’t help but feel the spirit sooo strongly and bearing testimony to me that the things I am reading are true! There are a couple, in particular, that I absolutely loved, one is the talk by President Uchdorf. - The love of God… which talks about the love that we need to have for God and how we can turn to be true disciples of Christ! Which is really why we are here on Earth, “prepare to meet God!” And the way we do that is following and become his disciples! And the other that I loved was the talk by Boyd K. Packer. The talk is called- prayer and promptings…

Actually I gave a talk in sacrament meeting yesterday on the talk by President Uchdorf… and how we need to be true disciples of God and the way we do is by following the 2 greatest commandments of God! Which we read in the Bible, which is love God and love thy neighbor! If we do these things we are fulfilling all on both sides of the veil! Just think about if we love God we will do the things that he tells us to do! We will search for his guidance in our life and will always have it because when we really search and want his presence he will always be with us, and then on the other side with loving our neighbors we will want to share the happiness and the knowledge that we have with them and will invite them to have the same! We will be just like Christ, which is the perfect example in our life!! It's such a blessing to have the words of the leaders of the church and once again in a few short weeks we are going to have the privilege to here them again!

So prepare everyone for this special time that happens every six months!! Write down questions and be ready and to hear what our God wants us to hear that will be passed through these leaders! There is no doubt in my mind that every single thing we will hear is going to be inspired by God!!

I love you guys so much!!!! You guys are all so amazing! I can feel your love through your letters and prays and I am always hoping that you can feel mine!!! Everyone have such a great week! One last thought and scriptures………

I would like to share one more thing about the other talk I read of Boyd K. Packer! Really this talk said something that I loved so much about prayer! I was reading in D&C 31:12 and I found a scripture that said that we need to pray always to resist temptation and gain the “reward”…. This reward could be anything… could be happiness on this earth and the next… could be something in a certain moment or could be, you helping someone else through your own prays!! I was thinking and pondering the “reward” part about this scripture and I came to the conclusion, which was a lot simpler then I was thinking ha-ha. That reward part means “anything we ask for…” we pray for many things but God will only answer and help if we ask. We need to ask… Boyd K. Packer said…

“Learn to pray. Pray often. Pray on in your mind, in your heart.

Pray on your knees. Prayer is your personal key to heaven.

The lock is on your side of the veil.”

SO ALL I WANT TO SAY IS TAKE ADVATNAGE OF THE LOCK BEING ON OUR SIDE OF THE VEIL AND ALWAYS KEEP IT OPEN!!!!!!!!

Love you all and have a good week!

Week 31 March 15, 2010

Hello family!!!

I bet that everyone is anxious to here how it was one more week in the mission field!!! But this week was a little different, probably one of the better weeks in the past 7 months!!! This week was zone conference and division!!!!!

So to start off, we caught a bus to the city of Alegrete!!! It’s about a 2 and a half hour bus ride.. we arrive and had such an amazing conference!! We talked about the goals and how we need to keep the rules!! I was surprised at how many people weren’t keeping the rules, weren’t studying ect… our president kind of put us in our place which was good!! And then we learned about the Book of Mormon again, and how we can find any answer to any situation in our life!! We also learned about the question of the soul or in another words… questions that everyone has about our life and what’s going to happen with us ect… really the Book of Mormon is something that is essential in our lives! We learn so much from it every time that we apply it and let it have a part in our life… so ya that was basically zone conference but the fun didn’t end there… I stayed in Alegrete for 5 days!!!!!

These five days were easily some of the greatest days ever!! I was with a lot of my buddies and I was with my zone leader that is one of my best friends here on the mission… Elder Hurst!! We really worked hard but it was a fun work and we studied and stuff together it was just different than any other experience that I have had!! So that was great!! To tell you a little bit more about the division, they had a huge activity… in fact they do one every Thursday and there is usually 150 people there every week which is amazing!!! It was so great to see a ward function in this manner!! And to see the families that were there and the people have a good time and being happy!! So that was pretty much my week!! It was great!!

Something funny is that at zone conference I got 3 boxes hahahahahhahaha gosh everyone was just ahhh little mommas boy gets 3 boxes hahah I love it SO much and then they said I wish I receive boxes… but I had to explain to them that they would have to be the only boy with four sisters for this to happen to them!! But it was great! And everyone was grateful to get a little something, something Americano if you know what I mean haha!! So everyone says thanks mom and dad!!!

Life as a missionary is SO great when you are doing the right things… of course we are free to choose what type of missionary that we would like to be.. we have a president but we are far away from him and almost all the time he doesn’t know what’s going on….. Here in Sao Gabriel we have a branch but quite frankly they could care less about what we do or what we don’t, but there is someone that is always watching and that is our Heavenly Father, and there are always people wanting to know and learn more about the only true church of God here one earth! We have the choice every day of what type of person that we would like to be and if we keep in mind that we (as members) all have the responsibility to share and be an example of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day-Saints every day!! Make a choice today, who you really want to be and follow firmly!! The road is quite clear if we understand the scriptures and if we open our heart and allow our Heavenly Father to show us.. this doesn’t mean that the road is easy, but its worth it!!! I promise you!! The church is true and you can know for yourself!! Just ask!!! Knock and it shall be given unto you!! Our Heavenly Father wants us all to return back to him but it’s up to us!! We all already chose to follow him once… will we do it again!!!!!?

I love you all so much!!! Thanks so much for your love and your prayers and your cards you guys are all amazing!! Stay happy and safe!! And have a great week!! Love you all!!

Family night with a family
Week 30 March 8, 2010

Hey family!!! How is everyone doing! Thanks for all of your emails I was so happy to here from you all and to here that everything is just great in Utah! Gosh where to start! This week passed by so fast, if feels everything that happened was just a blur…

So first this week was another week of working hard!! Trying to change things around in Sao Gabriel. We are trying to help the president of the branch get excited to work with us because people here are just thinking if they have the Gospel in their lives they’re set. They don’t need to help anyone else. But its quite the contrary… when we feel the blessings and the love of our Heavenly Father we should feel inspired and obligated to share these blessings with everyone else. So this has been what we have been trying to do and to be honest, it’s working a little bit… we finally had a meeting with the leaders of the church and we showed them a plan to help the branch and they accepted it!! But accepting it and really doing it are two things… we will see what happens next… ha-ha

But other then that this week, we did a service project… which was awesome! Finally we got to work a little in burning hot sun it was so great!! Getting blisters on our hands aww felt good!! My comp I think it was the first time he got a blister and he almost cried… ten minutes into the service project of digging a line in the ground for water pipes he started to complain about his hands and he stopped working… so pretty much I dug all of it but it was something that I loved!!! It felt so good to work again like that!

Something else happened pretty funny this week… my comp flushed toilet paper in our toilet and clogged it really bad!!! And we had nothing to fix it! But I thought that its just force right so I cut off a top of a bottle and used that as a sponge… hahaha well I made him use that. And he is a germ freak!! Funniest thing I have ever seen… I sent some pictures about this…

Some other things we had people bow to us in the road, which was funny, and something great is that Elton and Eliara called me again which was sooo nice!!!

This next week is zone conference in Alegrete and then I will stay there until Saturday on division! I’m so excited for this week it should be amazing!! So this next Monday I will have a lot to say about it!!

But we are really working hard here finding more and more people every week but none are really excepting the gospel which is difficult… we just have to help people understand the Bible because its written really really clearly how the gospel of Jesus Christ was organized and if He is the same yesterday, today, and forever the things that he did here on Earth is the way that it will always have to be and exactly how we have it today in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints!! It’s such a blessing to know these things and to testify of it every day!! I’m sooo grateful for the Gospel in my life and the knowledge that I have gained!! I love this Church so much and am so grateful for the opportunity I have to show my Heavenly Father by serving him for 2 years 24 hours a day!!

I love you all so much and thanks for everything!! Always know that this Church is true and there is something that can show us, and that is our Heavenly Father! All we need to do is ask with a sincere heart and then open our heart and allow him to show!!! He wants us all to come unto him! But it’s up to us to find him!! I love you all so much! Hope that all is well!! Everyone have a fabulous week! Love you all

Week 29 March 1, 2009

Hello everyone!!!!

I bet that everyone is so anxious to here how my second week was here in Sao Gabriel! But first I would like to thank everyone for their emails!! I love hearing from everyone! So thanks so much!!

Gosh so where to start… well I will start to say that this week we really were working hard! Where I am, the church is really, really weak and the branch doesn’t really function that great! We are trying our best to get the help of the branch president but he is ALWAYS busy and he doesn’t really want to help us and our ward mission leader is in the military so he doesn’t ever have time to come to church or anything… so to be quite honest it is just me and my comp and the Lord, that are going to do the work in this area….

So this week we were really working on finding more people to teach we found 14 new people that excepted the second visit and we passed by for the second and they where there, or they changed their mind and they didn’t want to here what happened with the church that Christ built when he was here on earth…

This week we also did something that was nice! We did a division where I work with a member of the ward… I forgot to mention that one of my best friends from Livramento moved here last week… I didn’t even know that we was going to come here, his name is Paulo he is in the picture that I sent. But he moved here to live with the family in the picture. We were just going to their house to visit them and what do you know… he was there… so I did a division with him which as nice!! My first division and it was really nice!! I’m hoping to do more in the future!!

Something also happened this week that was AMAZING!! A huge surprise!! Do you guys remember Elton and Elliara!! My family in Livramento!! They called me on Thursday and wanted to check up on me and see how I was doing!! I don’t know how they got our number but it came in a time that was needed!! So that was really, really nice! It was so great to here their voices!

Things are coming along here in Sao Gabriel its only going to get better as the days go on and as I get more comfortable here..!!

Sorry it’s a short one this week but not much to say!! Love you all so much!!! Have a great week!! You guys are all amazing!!
