Week 95 May 30, 2011

Hello family!! How are all of you guys doing on this wonderful May Day!! First off I would like to say thanks so much for the wonderful emails and pictures that I have received!! Thanks so much for everyone who takes time during the week to write me I really do appreciate it!!

So to be strait up honest I have now idea where to start! This week has been full of so many fun memories and so many great experiences where we have seen the hand of the Lord in this work!! First of all it has been a week of preparing a couple baptisms! We had two baptisms this week, one was on Thursday and one was on Saturday so we had to plan two baptisms meetings which was complicated and stuff but it was a couple great days!

Actually on Thursday I had one of the intersection experiences in my life… all of you guys back home readying this are going to get a crack out of this one… so pay attention… we have been teaching this man that is called Adilson! He is a guy that is super cool, but he is a little crazy for example… he lives going state to state and doesn't really have a job but he is trying to get one… but he is probably one of the most intelligent human beings that I have come across to get to know… he understands things on a different level. And to be honest sometimes I just strait up don’t understand what he is thinking hahahahaha… for example what he likes to do for fun is make paths in the forests here hahahahaha… and what he does is that he uses the book of Mormon as a compass and in some way (don’t ask me how ha-ha) to lead him to where he needs to go and for some reason it always works out ha-ha… weird huh… hahaha so anyway we go to baptize him and we push him to the side and he has this huge question to ask us…. And he started to talk about how the bible refers to baptism and being born again and stuff and he said he had thought about it a lot and he wanted it to be exactly how it was when we was born on to this earth of his mother… he ask if he could be baptized naked hahahahahahahahahahahaha…………….. Oh man I just stated dying but he was dead serious hahahaha…. So that was pretty funny!!!

And then we had the baptism of Andrea who is a 30 year old mom that was married with an ex president of a stake in a different city here in Brazil…. Anyway it’s a long story and he wasn’t treating her at all the way he should have and he left and abandoned her and her two kids… but still she has gained a testimony of the gospel and the teachings of the Gospel!!! She knows that everything he was doing to her is nothing, and she continued strong in the process of being baptized!! She has two boys that she said will for sure be little missionaries one day and she is so grateful for the blessing that is going to bring to her life!! What a miracle she is!

This week we also had to go to São Borja to see how everything is going there! We left here at night and we got there in the little city on the border of Argentina at 1: 30 in the morning and we had no idea where we were or what we were doing hahahaha… it was quite an adventure because the only thing we had was the address to the elders house in the center but the only thing was, there was no way to figure out where the taxis were hahaha… a little city where everything closes early and so there was no taxis… well about an hour of waiting finally a taxi comes and we get to the house safely… so that was nice and we were up early in the morning to do interviews and give a training in São Borja!

It was quite a fun day because we got to help a district leader and his comp there in their area and it its super gratifying to do that! We also got to talk with the couple missionary who are sooo sweet! I wasn’t aware of the wonderful experiences they are having there and it was sooooooooooooo nice to talk with someone that reminded me exactly like grandma and grandpa and Nana baby and big daddy!!! Oh man it was soooooooooooooo amazing!!! I guess that in the middle of no where, in a little city of São Borja, there is a foreign exchange student of the US and without knowing this our president of the mission was inspired to send this couple mission there and they have been talking with her and if I'm not mistaken she wants to get baptized but before she does she wants to share the gospel with her family back home and make this huge step with the entire family!! How cool is that!! Nothing is for a reason huh!! There is a purpose, and the hand of the Lord is in everything!!

Also we have been working really close with this wonderful family of Dioberto, Ana, Escarlette, and Estephanie!!! And they are, gosh the most amazing family in the world!! They are reading the Book Of Mormon and this last Sunday the entire family went to church and loved it!! I don’t think that I have ever left church feeling so amazing! We had 10 investigators in church, which is made me super, super happy! Anyway it’s so true! When you worry about the success of other missionaries the Lord worries about you and blesses you in your work!!! We have so little time in our area but still we are able to see the Lord blessing us! I am so grateful for his hand in everything

So that’s about all the time that I have ahhh I wish I could tell you everything that happened this week but sadly my time is all up! But I love you all so much!!!

Thanks for everything and you all have a great week ok!

Love Elder Wiscomb
